I haven't been here in a looooong time and to be honest, I miss it quite a bit. What's been stopping me from posting? I don't know. My ADD perhaps. My inability to commit fully to anything. Whatever. I'm back now. I'll be blogging again (hopefully) consistently.

Why is happiness boring?
I think I've figured out why divorce rates are so high now a days. Its because people find happiness dull. They expect a life of constant adrenaline rushes, danger, and turbulence. Why else would the writers of popular tv shows feel the need to defend their long term couples? Why the flux? Why the constant need for drama? Why can't people just be happy if they're meant for each other? If they're not meant to be together, ok, that's fine. Break them up. Put them back together. Break them up again. The train-wrecks are admittedly fun to watch.
But why is it that people are now bored with Jim and Pam because they are married and happy? Isn't that what you wanted?? Didn't you want them to end up together and be happy?
And people will answer, well yea but now that there's no more drama, its just not fun to watch.
Why?
Well, happiness is just kind of boring on tv.
BUT WHY?? Why in heaven's name would you find two people in love and happy a boring thing to watch. That's a fucking miracle!! 99.9% of television is people fucking around and breaking up and causing drama. You want something unique and interesting? Watch a show about a happy couple that is completely functional!
Why do we have to break up Blair and Chuck now that they are happy and together? Why do you think their scenes aren't as fun now that they're not lying to each other and hurting each other every episode? What does that say about the kind of relationships we foster and desire when we can't even be happy for fictional people? What kind of a person are you if you want to watch people in pain? Why is happiness boring?
I just don't get it. I hate romcoms. Why do I hate them? Because I hate all of that fucking bullshit that leads up to the big climatic finish where the characters declare their love, are about to start the only good part of a relationship, aaaaaaand roll credits. WTF?!?! Why did I just sit through two hours of bullshit?? I want to see the happy! Where they are in love and have problems and get through them together.
I think that's why Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are my favorite twilight books. They're Bella and Edward, in love, committed, working as a team, making decisions as a team, no back and forth or games involved. Its why I hate Jacob. He messes with that happiness and stability. Go away. Get your own girlfriend, stop trying to steal Edward's!
Its also why I don't understand infidelity. Why can you not just be happy?? Why do people have such a problem with consistency and stability?? Why does adventure and independence mean being alone?
I don't know. This is just something I was thinking about. I love love. I love happiness. I love the good part of a relationship, the actual fucking relationship, not the games you have to play to get there. Its probably why I don't have a boyfriend, lol.

Top 10 Carrie Underwood Songs
Anyone who knows me, knows I love Carrie Underwood. No, love isn't strong enough. I would fall to me knees sobbing hysterically, pledging my undying love and fealty to this woman if I ever met her. Scary? A little. But I don't give a shit because she's the best. So, in honor of my adoration, I have compiled a list of my 10 favorite Carrie songs. This was one of the hardest lists I've ever had to make, but I did it and I'm happy with it. Enjoy!
10. "Songs Like This"
Album: Play On
Out of all of Carrie's "man hater" song, I think this one is my favorite. It's sort of a culmination of all of their main ideas, and I think the beat is catchy and fun.
9. "Inside Your Heaven"
Album: Some Hearts
The reason this song is on my top 10 is because it was the moment I knew she was going to be a superstar. When she sang this on idol, I just knew there'd be no stopping her. It was perfect, her vocals were amazing, and she was just so great. It was the moment I knew I loved her.
8. "The Night Before (Life Goes On)"
Album: Some Hearts
This song is so sweet. It was my most played song when the album first came out, and it never got old. I still love it just as much today as I did then. Sweet song with a sweet message about love and growing up.
7. "I Just Can't Live A Lie"
Album: Some Hearts
This song. Gosh I've always loved it. I'm a sucker for unstoppable, dysfunctional, slightly unhealthy love. And her voice is so passionate and emotional, it really gets to you. Love this one.
6. "Someday When I Stop Loving You"
Album: Play On
I cried the first time I heard this song. The lyrics are so devastatingly sad and poignant. Her performance is flawless and I think its one of her more beautiful songs.
5. "I Told You So"
Album: Carnival Ride
How many artists can say that they did a cover of a classic song that was better than the original? Randy travis himself told Carrie that the song was always meant to be sung by her. It fits her voice perfectly and she adds so much emotion to the lyrics.
4. "Look At Me"
Album: Play On
I love the lyrics to this song. It's so so romantic and now that she's engaged to her little hockey hunk, I think you can really feel her emotions pouring out through the song. Just beautiful.
3. "What Can I Say (feat. Sons of Sylvia)"
Album: Play On
One of her strongest performances vocally. This collaboration with Sons of Sylvia showed that she could do crossover, although I'm not sure that was ever in question. As if the lyrics weren't affecting enough, Carrie's vocals will send chills down your spine. Phenomenal.
2. "Wasted"
Album: Some Hearts
This was the first song on her first cd. I remember sitting at my computer and putting the cd in, SO excited to hear it. This song came on and by the end of it, I was crying. I don't know how to explain it, but I was just so proud of her. Its a great song with a fantastic melody and inspiring lyrics. It was my favorite for a long, long time.

This song still gives me chills. By far her strongest performance vocally, it blows me away every time I hear it. The amazing part is that its even better live in concert. I was sobbing when we saw her live and she sang this. Its the ultimate exhibition of her talents. The lyrics are amazingly powerful, and she infuses so much emotion into her voice, while at the same time staying completely in tune. Its raw and polished, all at the same time. My absolute favorite Carrie Underwood song.
Of course, all of Carrie's songs are fantastic! I hope this inspired those who don't really listen to her music, or are turned off because she's country artist, to go and listen to more of her stuff. She truly is one of the most talented artists around.

Epic Power Couple = Epic First Kiss
Everyone knows that there's a huge variety of relationships on television, each one with different defining characteristics and similarities. One of my personal favorites is, surprise surprise, the power couple. This is a relationship that is often volatile, all consuming, and ultimately fated. It's not necessarily in the hands of those in the relationship to decide whether or not they're going to be together. When it comes down to it, they can't not be with one another. The power couple has a lot of defining characteristics but one I've noticed is that every power couple has an epic first kiss. It's amazing, passionate, surprising, and its this kiss that ignites the relationship, makes the two see that they're meant to be together. Here's a list of some of my favorite power couples and their epic first kisses.
~Barney and Robin~
How I Met Your Mother
I loved this episode already and then it ended with this amazing kiss that began BRo love. Barney and Robin are pretty much perfect for each other and this epic kiss sent them across the line from friendship into something more, and made Barney realize that he was in love with Robin.
~Logan and Veronica~
Veronica Mars
I still haven't finished watching all 3 seasons of Veronica Mars BUT I've loved these two since the moment Veronica kissed Logan just....because. I love this kiss because she just sort of does it, completely overwhelmed with some seriously conflicting emotions. And he simply gets it, and kisses her back. Amazing.

Beverly Hills, 90210
Vicki and I just started watching BH 90210, but it's pretty apparent to us that the writers are pushing Brandon and Kelly as the power couple of this show. Their first kiss at the prom was so epic and it seems to have already set the stage for their relationship, even though it doesn't exist yet. In fact, they might be the strongest example simply because we don't know exactly where this relationship is going to led, but the amazingness of this kiss has already made us fans of them.

This scene was so emotionally charged. He was grappling with his guilt about Jason's accident, she was dealing with the loss of her dream future, and all these emotions and feelings exploded in both of them and led to one of the most epic power couples of all time. Honestly, I don't think it gets much better than these two.

Lost
While it can be argued that Kate and Sawyer are not meant to be, it cannot be argued that this is one of the hottest, most electrified kisses ever on television. Whether or not they want to, something inside of them speaks to the other, and they're connected forever. This kiss didn't really start that connection, it only gave it a way to express itself.

Gossip Girl
This could arguably be called the kiss heard round the world. I mean come on, it got it's own promotional campaign! This moment changed not only these characters, but the path of the entire television show, irrevocably. Once viewers saw the perfection that is chuckandblair, there was no going back and this kiss is what began it. Completely outrageous, scandalous, shocking, and beyond hot it tied these two together permanently.

Ross and Rachel. Rachel and Ross. The definition of fated lovers. This is probably one of the most amazing, passionate, romantic, wonderful first kisses ever. It sealed the deal for these two and 10 seasons later, they finally, FINALLY got back together and stayed together. One of my all time favorite moments.

Top 10 Real Life Celebrity Couples
Another list. I just love lists. Anyways, these are my top 10 real life celebrity couples. They're all married, (except for one, but don't get me started. NOH8) and are all beautiful wonderful people. I believe they all love their spouses equally, so this isn't a who is most in love competition. It's simply who I like to read articles about or see pictures of. So on to the list!
10. Sarah Michelle Geller and Freddie Prince Jr.
Together for: 9 years
Children: They just had a baby girl named Charlotte Grace
Why I love them: They're just adorable. They've been together since they filmed a teenage slasher flick. How adorable is that gonna be to tell your daughter? I just love that they've stayed together, they're never in the tabloids EVER, and they seem great.
9. Ben Afleck and Jennifer Garner
Together for: 5 years
Children: Two girls, Violet and Seraphina
Why I love them: They so vehemently denied their relationship until there was hard proof of it, which I always find hilarious when you're exposed to the press. But I love the privacy and respect they demand from the media. And I love that Victor Garber officiated at their wedding. That's amazing. And their children are freaking beautiful. And they seem like a beautiful family and a loving couple.
8. Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman
Together for: 4 years
Children: One daughter named Sunday Rose
Why I love them: A little under 5 months after they got married, Keith checked himself into rehab. Everyone expected Nicole to leave him. I mean, they had no kids, they just got married, they'd only dated for 2ish years before they got married, most people wouldn't stay. But not Nicole. She stayed by him and supported him, and he successfully completed rehab. He credits his success to her love, and he wrote her the following song, which would be enough reason to have them on this list all on its own.
7. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
Together for: 13 years
Children: 3 daughters, Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey
Why I love them: Easily the most stable, supportive, normal couple in the music industry. They have such a beautiful family and are such a strong team. It was difficult to find a picture of the two of them that wasn't them performing! They have so much respect for each other and they only do love duets with each other. They've produced a million hits together, but the following video and song is one of the most amazing, intimate things I've ever seen and really perfectly showcases their love.
6. Seal and Heidi Klum
Together for: 5 years
Children: 4 kids, Leni (adopted by Seal), Henry, Johan, and daughter Lou
Why I love them: My favorite thing about Seal and Heidi, (besides their gaggle of children and the fact that Seal so easily accepted Leni as his own despite the fact that he's not his biological father) is how playful they are with each other. They've been together for 5 years and yet they still seem like newlyweds. They're so supportive of each other and are so open about their relationship and their love. For how famous they both are, they seem very down to earth and appear to have their priorities in the right order.
5. Jenny Garth and Peter Facinelli
Together for: 13 years
Children: 3 girls, Luca, Lola, and Fiona
Why I love them: They have the most beautiful family. I know I've said that for all of them but this one takes the cake. They are so adorable, they're kids are gorgeous, and they're such devoted parents. They're in the spotlight now thanks to a little vampire movie, but its very obvious that their family is their life. I think its an amazing thing to see something like that in Hollywood.
4. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtker

Why I love them: Unfortunately for every gay man ever, when Neil came out in 2007, he came out saying he was already taken. These two are so freaking adorable. They're silly and loving and fun and they're just the best of friends. Quiet and unobtrusive, they're committed to each other and allow their normal and amazing relationship to speak for itself as a symbol for gay rights. Neil constantly refers to David as his better half. Precious.

Children: Nope, but Bey's said she wants to be a mother
Why I love them: I love how intensely private they are about their relationship. It's something thats very personal to Beyonce, not to mention that they intensity of both of their fame levels makes a relationship very difficult. They take it seriously, they love and support each other, and they keep their private life private. All of this and of course, how freaking powerful they are. They're like the ultimate power couple. Amazing.
2. Victoria and David Beckham
Together for: 12 years
Children: 3 boys, Brooklyn, Cruz, and Romeo
Why I love them: This may seem like a surprising choice for me, but I can't help it, I adore the Beckhams. They are the most fabulous couple. Fabulous marriage, fabulous children, fabulous looks, fabulous ad campaigns (Armani underwear, together??), fabulous life. They are so glamorous! And all of this superficial stuff aside, they have been together for 12 years, they have beautiful children that they're really involved with, and they really seem to love each other. Plus, they're Posh and Becks. C'mon.

Together for: 5 years
Children: None
Why I love them: I think Ellen and Portia have the most amazing love story. Here it is if you don't know it. When they met, Portia was not openly gay. She wasn't ready to be an openly gay actress in hollywood. She says that when she saw Ellen for the first time, she felt an instant pull to her, and she just wanted to know her. They saw each other every now and again for the next 3 years. Portia was in love with her, but Ellen was the most famous lesbian in America and she was afraid. Finally, after 3 years, she decided that she had to tell her how she felt, because she couldn't stand to be without her anymore. She says that their love overpowered her fear. So they start dating, and after 2 years Ellen proposes to her with a pink diamond ring. Portia of course says yes, and the set the date for August of 2008. Then a month before their already scheduled ceremony, the Supreme Court legalizes gay marriage in California. So they have a legal marriage, completely by chance. Its so magical and romantic. They're just crazy about each other and I love them both so much.

Top 7 Pop Songs
Yay, another list!! I haven't made a list in a really long time and I missed it! This one has been sitting on my blackberry for a while so I decided to blog it. This is my top 7 (because I couldn't come up with 10) pop songs!
7. Demi Lovato - Here We Go Again
I know Demi is really new to the pop scene and as a disney girl, it's hard to take her seriously, but this girl has quite a voice and I really enjoy her music, especially this song. I don't even want to think about how many times I've played it. It's a perfect pop song: adorable, bouncy, easy to sing to, and happy. I smile every time I hear it!
6. Madonna - Material Girl
Madonna is one of the original pop stars, doing scandalous and edgy before Lady Gaga even knew what that meant. This song is such a classic and I've always loved it.
5. Lady Gaga - Poker Face
Gaga is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites, although she wasn't always. I started out hating her and that annoying as hell song "Just Dance." Then she released "Poker Face" and damnit if I wasn't singing this to myself all the freaking time. That's what a good pop song does, it gets under your skin and into your head! This isn't my favorite of her songs, but I think it might be her best pop song.
4. Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love
I adore Leona's voice and this song is just so freaking good. It got me completely hooked on her when it first came out and I listened to it on repeat for weeks. Beautiful melody, adorable lyrics, catchy and fun. Love this song.
3. Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You
Kelly will always be my #1 idol (don't tell Carrie) and this had to be one of my favorite songs she ever released. So so great, just everything a pop song/just a song in general should be. I sang this for weeks. Hell, I'm still singing it. Never got old.
2. Britney Spears - Baby One More Time
No pop list is complete without the Queen herself, Britney Spears. I thought long and hard about which of her many hits to name her best, and being a bit sentimental, I picked the one that threw her onto the national stage. This song set the framework for her career and it's still one of the best pop songs ever.
1. Mariah Carey - Always Be My Baby
If you know me, you'll be shocked that Mariah is my #1 seeing as I hate her. Except that this is, in my opinion, the best pop song ever recorded. It's everything a pop song should be and it has always been my favorite, and probably the only Mariah song I ever truly loved. Back in the day, she had endless amounts of potential and this song just showcases everything she was and could have been. Oh well, its still the best and my pick for Best Pop Song Ever.

Supernatural and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
Because I'm an English major and I couldn't stop myself:
So I got an update from spoilertv.com about a casting call for Supernatural 5x15, called "My Bloody Valentine." The title itself promises awesomeness, (unlike Jensen Ackles movie of the same name, lol), so here's the call:
[FAMINE] 50 to 80 years old... He is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He is withered, weak, raspy. This character is a creepy and destructive old man filled with a voracious hunger...GUEST STAR (29)
[CUPID] 30s to 40s, doughy, out of shape, naked, his humorously loving character greets everyone with enormous bear hugs that almost break their ribs. He is overflowing with love and positivity to an almost humorous and narcotic degree (think Will Farrell in "ELF" sptv050769)...GUEST STAR (17)
So I read that and was like, "Yay, cupid! That'll be so funny! And omg yay, another horsemen! Exciting! Wait, Famine? I didn't know that was one. What was the first one again?" And so I was like okay, I'll just look them up really quick! So I went to wikipedia and I found so much, I don't even know where to begin.
Okay, so the first one we met was War, which I remember now. His horse is red and his equipment is a sword. His power is said to be "To take peace from the earth, and make men kill each other. To kill with the sword." Ouch. That sucks.
The second one we've sort of kind of met was Death. His horse is pale or pale green, and his equipment is a scythe. His job is: "Followed by Hades kills with the scythe, with famine, disease, and the beasts of the earth. " Which explains why we haven't seen him yet because dang, that sounds scary and awesome and the kind of reveal you want to save for it's own episode. Anyways, the only question I had about that is whether or not Hades is the same as Lucifer. Apparently christian theology isn't exactly clear on that. I don't think so because Lucifer is already there, and he's released later in Revelations if I remember correctly. Also, apparently Hades is often substituted with Death or the Abode of Death, so I'm thinking Hades basically just means Hell.
Okay so now in episode 15 apparently we're meeting Famine. His horse is black and his equipment is a balancing scale. His power is "To bring famine. To kill with hunger." Which holy CRAP, also really really sucks!
So I am straight up freaking out because all I can think is how the HELL are we supposed to beat all these?? And I haven't even read the fourth one! Then I read it. And oh boy.
The fourth horsemen is Pestilience, also known as Conquest. He rides a white horse and his equipment is a crown and a bow. He's also apparently the first one out of the gate when they're released by the Lamb after the Seven Seals are broken. He's said to "To go forth in conquest, and to conquer." Ummmm, is it just me, or does that sound like not scary or evil at all? So then I kept reading and apparently, I'm observant, because there's a whole debate about whether or not this horsemen is evil or righteous.
Argument for evil: The other three horsemen represent evil, destructive forces, and given the unified way in which all four are introduced and described, it may be most likely that the first horseman is correspondingly evil. The German Stuttgarter Erklärungsbibelcasts him as civil war and internal strife. One interpretation--which was held by evangelist Billy Graham--casts the rider of the white horse as the Antichrist, or a representation of false prophets, citing differences between the white horse in Revelation 6 and Jesus on the white Horse in Revelation 19. Revelation 19 Jesus has many crowns, but in Revelation 6 the rider has one.
Argument for good: Irenaeus, an influential Christian theologian of the second century, was among the first to interpret this horseman as Christ himself, his white horse representing the successful spread of the gospel. Various scholars have since supported this theory, citing the later appearance, in Revelation 19, of Christ mounted on a white horse, appearing as The Word of God. Furthermore, earlier in the New Testament, the Book of Mark indicates that the advance of the gospel may indeed precede and foretell the apocalypse. The color white also tends to represent righteousness in the Bible, and Christ is in other instances portrayed as a conqueror. However, opposing interpretations argue that the first of the four horsemen is probably not the horseman of Revelation 19. They are described in significantly different ways, and Christ's role as the Lamb who opens the seven seals makes it unlikely that he would also be one of the forces released by the seals.
Besides Christ, the horseman could represent the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was understood to have come upon the Apostles at Pentecost after Jesus' departure from earth. The appearance of the Lamb in Revelation 5 shows the triumphant arrival of Jesus in heaven, and the white horseman could represent the sending of the Holy Spirit by Jesus and the advance of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
SO RIGHT?!?! How cool is all that??? I'm just so excited, I feel like this could be so freaking epic. I don't know what's going to happen but I have to say that I feel like there's a lot of bad right now on the show, and Sam and Dean could use someone on their side. This sounds like a perfect opportunity for that.

Where the H have I been?
I know, I completely disappeared from my blog. It's really so sad, I used to love this thing so freaking much, but then I found my tumblr and it became so much more convenient to just post little things instead of my big wonderful full blogs. But I really miss this so I think I'm going to try and start being more consistent with my posts again. I don't really have much to say right now honestly. I've been in kind of a funky place, not really very entertaining, but I'm hoping Thanksgiving break and then the end of the quarter will help snap me out of that. I'm not going to bother updating everyone on my life. You all know me so you should know what I've been up to, and if you don't know me then why are you even reading this? I mean you're certainly welcome to but I feel like my life story would bore a stranger to tears. Anyways, this is basically just to announce that I am in fact bloggin again (woohoo!) and I'm going to try to be better about updating frequently. I'm working on a blog about the New Moon Premiere so keep your eyes peeled for that.
The Look: Male Vulnerability
It's really late, I can't sleep, I haven't blogged in a while, and this is the result of that.
A very long time ago I posted a blog about the 3 types of man crying seen on television and in movies. I've been thinking about another post similar to that one, except this one is about the look. The look is a commonly used facial expression for men on tv. They give the look to the woman they are romantically involved with, usually during a time of suffering, grief, confusion, or general unhappiness. It's my favorite look ever. Allow me to explain.
The look tells the woman that her man is seriously trippin. It's so romantic. It says in just a look that he is lost and alone, that he needs someone to understand, and that she is the only thing keeping him from disappearing completely. It says I know I'm stupid sometimes, but right now I just need you so badly. Please be there for me. And let me tell you, it works. It doesn't matter what the couples official "status" is, she is for sure going to comfort him. They could be fighting, they could be broken up, they could honest to god hate each other, but the second she sees the look nothing else matters.
I've provided three examples from different tv shows to help illustrate.
This is Eric and Sookie from True Blood. They are not even a couple. In fact, Sook sort of hates Eric. But then Eric's maker died and she stayed with him. She was probably going to leave but then she saw the look and it was all over.
Finally there's Blair and Chuck from Gossip Girl. Chuck's dad had just died and he'd pushed away everyone who cared about him, including Blair. He showed up in Blair's room and she was about to send him away but then he turned around and gave her the look. Needless to say, she did not kick him out and instead spent the night comforting him.
The look is a beautiful thing. It allows male characters that are supposed to be tough and emotionless to have an extremely vulnerable moment without being sappy. It's not fake or manipulative, it's honest and raw, and their female counterparts are always just waiting for it. It's the moment when you see who is really the strong one in the relationship. I love it.

EPIC New Moon BTS Pictures!!!
